How To Find a Therapist for depression Treatment TherapiesIf you are interested in tying a complementary therapy, discuss it with your doctor first to be on the safe side. There are around 45000 complementary practitioners in the UK, but no one single register or code of practice. Some Therapies have more than one governing body, which can make choosing a therapist quite tricky. It is a good idea to keep your ears open - going on personal recommendation is always a good idea. The best approach is to find out as much as you can about the training the therapist has undergone, how much experience they have, and what code of practice they abide by. If the therapist is unwilling to answer questions about their training, then go to someone else. Be wary of those who say they trained for 5 years - this may simply mean they are attended one weekend course every year! So beware. It is also sensible to chose a practitioner you feel comfortable. Avoid any therapist who tries to make diagnosis or who guarantees their treatment will cure you. Do not, under any circumstances, give up taking prescribed medication or abandon conventional treatment without fully discussing it with your doctor and specialist.
