The causes of anxiety disorders are not fully known, but both physiologic and psychologic factors are involved. Following the some causes of Anxiety -

Adrenaline and the Nervous System

At least some of these symptoms of Anxiety will be familiar to anyone who has had to endue a job interview or sit an examination even if they have never had a full blown attack of hyperventilation. The physical symptoms in particular are due to increased activity within part of the nervous system of the body called the autonomic nervous system. This is the network of nerves which controls our blood pressure heart rate and temperature.

When an attack of Anxiety comes on suddenly, perhaps triggered by a stressful event, some of the symptoms are the direct result of a surge in circulating adrenaline. A with depression, the underlying processes in brain function are not well understood but there are several patterns and trends in Anxiety that help in understanding it.

Background Anxiety

We all have different degrees of background or trait Anxiety. By this is meant the basic level of anxiety experienced by an individual going about normal life. A high trait Anxiety is thought to come from inherited behavior or from early relationships in childhood.

On the top of the trait Anxiety is state Anxiety - the level of Anxiety caused by specific situations. Again, we all differ in the degree to which the same circumstances affects us - some people get anxious very easily and others hardly ever seem anxious. Those people who have a high trait Anxiety are vulnerable to experiencing high state Anxiety in stressful situations.

Other Causes of anxiety

  • Anxiety is usually the result of an exaggerated response to an emotional stress.
  • All the memories suppressed during the childhood have an impact on the adult life and result in anxiety.
  • It is largely dependent on the entire life's experiences.
  • Specific events or situations can precipitat anxiety attacks but only after a basic pattern of an anxious respponse to life's experiences is established.

The truth about depression and anxiety related disorders is that a chemical imbalance is typically understood as being only one component in the cause of such a disorder. There are multiple other factors that the makers of such drugs do not consider when they are selling their products to confused sufferers.
